Visitors to the websiteWhen someone visits this website, we record standard internet log information. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. We collect this information in a way which does not identify anyone. Other than as described below, we do not make any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting the website and do not associate any data gathered from this site with any personally identifying information from any source.
Use of the Members' AreaThe website's Members' Area contains some pages and downloadable files that are for use by paid-up members of the club only. To use them, you must be logged on to the website using your callsign and your personal password.
When you log on, your callsign and whether or not you succeeded in logging on is recorded. This information is kept for no longer than two weeks and is used to provide assistance if you have problems logging on.
If you download a copy of one of the four most recent Key Note magazines, your callsign, the Key Note's file name (e.g. kn1211a5.pdf) and the date and time are recorded. This information is used to check that members who subscribe to the "digital" Key Note have successfully downloaded their copies.
Personal InformationThe website allows logged-on members to view or download limited details of other members. This is so that members can identify each other for the purposes of socialising and participating in club activities and awards. The details are limited to a member number, callsign, name-on-air and town or state. For example, 8385, G3ZOD, Graham, Stockport Greater Manchester.
When members join the club, we ask for permission to provide these details. If you later wish to opt in or out, please contact us (details on the Contact Us page).
The Arrange Slow Speed Morse (QRS) Contacts page allows logged-on members to view details of members who are willing to arrange contacts. This includes some email addresses and telephone numbers. Members who appear on this page have given explicit permission to do this and can have their information changed or removed at any time by contacting us using the details on the Contact Us page.
On the main Members' Area web page, a logged-on member can view the date their own subscription ends and whether their subscription includes the paper or "digital" Key Note. This information is visible only to the member concerned and the website administrators.
.ASPXAUTH and .ASPXROLESThese two cookies are used when you log onto the website's Members' Area.
.ASPXAUTH is used whenever you are logged into the website and visit a protected page or download a protected file. It contains your callsign and the time that your login expires. The web server uses this to know if you are logged in or not; if it receives the cookie and it's before the expiry time, you are logged in and will be allowed to visit the page or download the file. If it's past the expiry time or the cookie does not exist, you will be sent to the logon page.
.ASPXROLES is used whenever you are logged into the website and visit a protected page or download a protected file. It contains the word "members" for users without administrative privileges. This improves the website's perfomance because it saves the web server from having to check your privileges each time you visit a protected page or download a protected file.
